Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa State has been recognised for his exceptional contributions to economic diversification and solid mineral development, receiving the prestigious Governor of the Year award from The Independent Newspaper. The award was presented on Saturday in acknowledgment of his transformative efforts in harnessing the state’s mineral resources to drive industrial growth and sustainable development.

The recognition comes on the heels of the recent inauguration of Nigeria’s largest lithium processing factory in Nasarawa State, a landmark project that underscores the governor’s commitment to leveraging the state’s natural resources for economic prosperity.

Musa Ahmed Mohammed, the Accountant General of Nasarawa State, congratulated Governor Sule on the achievement, praising his visionary leadership and dedication to innovation. In a statement, Mohammed highlighted how the governor’s strategic investments in the solid minerals sector have positioned Nasarawa as a significant player in the global minerals market.

“Governor Sule’s focused initiatives in the mineral sector have had a profound impact on the state’s economy. By promoting the extraction and processing of valuable resources, he has not only created job opportunities but also laid the foundation for long-term industrial growth. This achievement will benefit the state for generations to come,” the statement read.

The Accountant General also commended the governor for his relentless efforts to diversify the state’s economy and foster innovation. He noted that the lithium processing factory, among other projects, exemplifies Governor Sule’s commitment to transforming Nasarawa into a hub for industrial and economic development.

Governor Sule’s administration has consistently prioritised the development of the solid minerals sector, aiming to reduce the state’s reliance on oil revenues and create sustainable economic opportunities for its citizens. The award serves as a testament to his impactful leadership and the tangible progress achieved under his governance.
