A coordinated rescue effort is underway to locate and free Lieutenant Cynthia Akor, a Nigerian Navy officer assigned to the Defence Headquarters, and two other individuals who were abducted in the Federal Capital Territory.

Reports indicate that armed assailants seized the victims from their home in the Mpape district of Abuja late Friday.

An insider source revealed that the kidnappers have established contact with the victims’ families, demanding a ransom of 100 million Naira for their safe return.

“Three individuals were taken from their residence in Mpape on Friday night. Among them is Lieutenant Akor, a DHQ personnel. The kidnappers have communicated with the families, requesting a substantial ransom,” the source disclosed.

Attempts to obtain official comments from Defence Media Operations Director, Major General Markus Kangye, and Defence Information Director, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

Federal Capital Territory Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, acknowledged the inquiry and stated she would provide confirmation and details shortly. However, she had not provided further information by the time of publication.

A separate security source confirmed that a joint operation, involving police and military personnel, has been initiated to secure the victims’ release. “A rescue operation is in progress. Police and military units are actively engaged,” the source stated.
