Citing a dangerous trend of terrorists and bandits infiltrating the South-West, the Majeóbajé Community Development Initiative is urging immediate action to bolster the region’s security. The prominent NGO, in a statement issued Friday from Ibadan, Oyo State, warned that the escalating insecurity in northern Nigeria is no longer confined to the North but is steadily spreading into southern states.

Chairman Akintayo Akin-Deko and Secretary Ayo Oyerinde expressed deep concern over intelligence suggesting that “bandits and hardened terrorists,” displaced from the North and neighboring countries, are now seeking refuge in South-West forests and operating within communities of economic migrants.
Majeóbajé Community Development Initiative highlighted the urgent need to address Nigeria’s deepening security crisis, referencing a string of violent tragedies.

While acknowledging the establishment of security outfits like Amotekun in the South-West, the group called for their immediate professionalization and proper equipping, alongside increased security collaboration among the South-West states and with bordering states, to effectively counter this growing infiltration.
