The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has formally endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu for a second term in office, following a stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday in Ikom Local Government Area.

The event, convened by the Central Progressives Initiative alongside the party’s central leadership, attracted key political figures including Minister of State for Industry John Owan-Enoh, former Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Elvert Ayambem, and ex-Deputy Governor Clement Ebri.

Senator Eteng Williams, representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, moved the motion for the endorsements, which was unanimously approved by voice vote under the chairmanship of Ebri. Williams emphasized the unity of his district’s people and leaders in supporting Governor Otu’s re-election, noting that while Otu has achieved significant developmental progress, constituents are urging him to “do more.” He stated, “The applause and support he receives are not just expressions of satisfaction but a clear message for him to continue delivering good governance.”

Speaker Ayambem described the Central Senatorial District as the “pillar of APC in Cross River,” highlighting its strategic importance and renewed commitment to unity and progress. Minister Owan-Enoh echoed this sentiment, saying, “When the central speaks, the state has spoken. There is no vacancy in 2027. The reward for hard work is more work.” Former Senate Leader Ndoma-Egba predicted a political “earthquake” in the state and presidency that will continue through 2027, reiterating the principle of power rotation and endorsing Governor Otu’s second term.

Other notable endorsements came from National Assembly members, including Mike Etaba, and former PDP chairman turned South South Development Commission member Ambassador Soni Abang, who praised Tinubu’s reforms and Otu’s economic management, particularly the halving of the state’s debt under Otu’s leadership. The six local government chairmen and the Central Commissioners’ Forum also gave their backing, with Commissioner for Information Dr Erasmus Ekpang describing both leaders’ tenures as transformative.

APC State Chairman Alphonsus Eba lauded the stakeholders’ unity and pledged ongoing party alignment with the vision of continuity and development in Cross River State. This consolidated support sets a strong foundation for the APC’s campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
