Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly condemned the recent violent attacks in Borno, Plateau, Kano, and Kebbi states, which claimed over 50 lives. Speaking on his X handle on Saturday, Atiku described the incidents as a “devastating blow to our collective conscience as a nation,” emphasizing the urgent need for a decisive and people-centered approach to security that prioritizes human life above all else.

“My deepest sympathies go to the bereaved families and the affected communities. These tragedies are not mere statistics; they are real stories of shattered families and stolen dreams. We cannot continue to normalise this scale of bloodshed,” Atiku stated, expressing profound sorrow over the loss of innocent lives.

okay.ng reports that Atiku also expressed deep concern over the ongoing silence and apparent indifference of authorities regarding the brutal violence in Benue and other affected regions. He warned that the failure to act decisively would stain the legacy of current leaders.

He urged political leaders at all levels to prioritize the protection of human lives over political optics, cautioning that “history would not be kind to those who chose power over people.” His statement underscores the critical demand for urgent and compassionate leadership in the face of Nigeria’s escalating security challenges.
