Ali Bukar Dalori has formally taken over as the acting national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from the position.

Okay.ng reports that Ganduje’s resignation was submitted on Friday and formally presented to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling party on Monday by the national secretary, Suraj Ajibola.

“In line with Article 14 of our constitution, the motion was moved that the deputy national chairman, Hon Ali Bukar Dalori, assume the office of acting national chairman pending the time the position is filled by the national executive committee,” Ajibola stated during the meeting.

Felix Morka, the party’s national publicity secretary, confirmed Ganduje’s resignation, saying it was to allow him attend to “urgent and important” personal matters.

Dalori, in his address to the NWC at its first meeting under his leadership, said he was stepping into the role with “humility, responsibility, and loyalty” and under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We are all aware of the significant contributions Dr Ganduje made during his tenure,” Dalori said. “Since his assumption of office in August 2023, he provided our party with experienced leadership, steadfast commitment, and a clear sense of direction.”

He added, “On behalf of the entire APC family, I express our heartfelt gratitude to him and wish him full recovery and strength as he focuses on his health and personal well-being.”

Dalori emphasized that his appointment was not a personal triumph, but rather a call to service with high expectations from party members and supporters.

“This is a period for consolidation — not conflict. For maturity — not division. And for vision — not personal ambition,” he stated, pledging to lead with “transparency, inclusiveness, and unity of purpose.”

He further noted that the APC must begin early preparations for the 2027 general elections by strengthening internal processes and reconnecting with the grassroots.

Reaffirming the party’s loyalty to President Tinubu, Dalori declared support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a practical roadmap to address Nigeria’s economic, security, and unity challenges.

“The APC remains the political vehicle to drive this transformation, and we will stand by the president in full loyalty and partnership,” he said.

Dalori also called on all stakeholders to remain united, avoid divisive rhetoric, and promised that a clear roadmap for the interim leadership period would be unveiled soon.
