David Mark, the Interim National Chairman of the newly formed opposition coalition, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has made it clear that the party does not yet support any presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mark, a former Senate President, made this declaration on Tuesday during a stakeholder meeting with the Kogi chapter of the ADC held in Abuja. He stressed that under his leadership, the party would be guided by fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity for all.

“The ADC has no preferred or favourite presidential aspirant, but has set out to first put out a platform that would be attractive and acceptable to the majority of Nigerians,” Mark stated.

He noted that the party’s priority is to establish a credible and inclusive political alternative that will resonate with Nigerians who are eager for national renewal.

“We are doing this because we do not want this great ship called Nigeria to sink. Because if we do not rise up now and it sank, all of us will be affected,” he added.

Mark emphasized that all members of the ADC are equal stakeholders, with no one having superior ownership or authority over others.

The former military governor of Niger State called on ADC members to put aside internal divisions and work together to build a formidable platform capable of tackling Nigeria’s pressing issues.

He also urged politicians across party lines to cease hostilities and focus on national challenges like insecurity, which the ADC has vowed to address should it assume power.

The meeting in Abuja comes amid growing interest in the ADC as an emerging political force seeking to challenge the dominance of the current ruling party in the 2027 elections.
