Funso Aina, Senior Manager, External Relations at MTN Nigeria, has received the Outstanding Public Relations and Corporate Communications Personality of the Decade Award at the 2025 EDGE Awards.
The honour, presented by Marketing Edge, recognises Aina’s remarkable contributions to public relations, corporate reputation management, and thought leadership across Africa’s telecommunications and media landscape.
Reacting to the recognition, Aina expressed profound gratitude, describing the moment as both humbling and inspiring.
“I thank God for this latest recognition — The 2025 EDGE ‘PR and Corporate Communications Personality of the Decade’ Award. Wow! Just wow!” he said in a celebratory post.
He praised the organisers of the award, particularly John Ajayi, Publisher and CEO of Marketing Edge, whom he described as “a true visionary.”
“I am very grateful to the award organizers, Marketing Edge, fronted by John Ajayi, a true visionary. Finally, this award, and all the many others wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the incredibly exceptional team I am privileged to work with at MTN. I thank you all,” Aina stated.
Reflecting on his journey and the collaboration that defines his success, Aina quoted the famous line often attributed to Isaac Newton:
“Indeed, as can be seen on the landing page of ‘Google Scholar,’ I ‘stand on the shoulders of giants.’”
Aina, who has over three decades of experience spanning journalism, corporate communications, and stakeholder engagement, has been instrumental in shaping MTN’s reputation as a trusted brand and purpose-driven organisation.
Under his leadership, MTN Nigeria’s external relations team has earned multiple accolades for innovation, storytelling, and brand advocacy.
Aina himself has previously been recognised among Africa’s top corporate communications leaders and featured in several industry lists celebrating excellence in PR practice.
