President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, on his 91st birthday, describing him as a symbol of unity and national reconciliation.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, Akpabio praised Gowon’s enduring contribution to Nigeria’s peace and cohesion, noting that his “No Victor, No Vanquished” policy after the civil war remains one of the strongest pillars of national healing.
“On behalf of my family, constituents, the Senate, and the 10th National Assembly, I rejoice with our former Head of State, His Excellency, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, on the occasion of his 91st birthday. It is a thing of joy to see him reach this milestone,” Akpabio said.
He lauded Gowon’s leadership during and after the civil war, stating that his vision for peace and unity continues to guide Nigeria’s journey toward stability.
