The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a major reduction in the cost of the 2026 Hajj, lowering the fare for intending pilgrims from over ₦8 million to about ₦7.6 million.
The announcement was made by NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, in an interview with DCL Hausa from Saudi Arabia, where he confirmed that the review followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive to make the annual pilgrimage more affordable for Nigerians.
According to him, “the review means each pilgrim will now pay over N760,000 less compared to the previous year’s fare.”
He explained that the reduction was achieved after recent negotiations between NAHCON and Saudi Arabian service providers. “Pilgrims from Adamawa and Borno States will now pay N7.5 million instead of N8.3 million earlier announced,” Professor Pakistan stated.
He also revealed that “other Northern states will pay N7,669,769, compared to N8,457,685 previously announced while the new fare for pilgrims from southern states, has been reduced to N7,991,141 from N8,784,085.”
The NAHCON Chairman added that December 5, 2025, has been set as the final deadline for all intending pilgrims to complete their payments for the 2026 exercise.
