The Lagos State Government has delayed the start of its large-scale rehabilitation project on the Lekki–Ajah corridor, shifting the commencement indefinitely after initially scheduling it for November 15, 2025.
Okay News reports that authorities say a revised date will be announced soon.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, disclosed the postponement on Tuesday via his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Osiyemi explained that while the full rehabilitation has been paused, preliminary site activities will continue until the end of November to keep early groundwork active.
In his announcement, he stated, “The Lagos State Government wishes to inform the public that the planned rehabilitation works on the Lekki–Ajah corridor, earlier scheduled to commence on Saturday, 15th November 2025, have been postponed to a later date. A new commencement date will be communicated in due course.”
The commissioner expressed appreciation to residents and commuters for their patience, reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving urban mobility and strengthening infrastructure in Africa’s most populous city.
The eight-month project, originally unveiled on November 12, 2025, is designed to ease chronic congestion and upgrade one of the busiest transportation corridors in Lagos.
