Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has dismissed widespread rumours claiming she was arrested in Abuja, calling the reports false, malicious, and an attempt by bloggers to use her name for profit.
The rumour emerged on Monday after a blogger alleged that Ojo had been detained over “new evidence” linked to the ongoing investigation into the death of singer Mohbad.
The claim quickly gained traction online, prompting concerns from fans who flooded her with calls and messages.
But during a TikTok live session, the actress firmly debunked the story, describing it as yet another case of people exploiting her name to drive online traffic.
“I do not know they keep peddling false rumours about me. To you all rumour mongers that spread fake news about me, it shall not be well with you. I am on my way to Abuja now and you said they arrested me, who did they arrest?” she said.
Visibly frustrated, Ojo criticised those who continually push fabricated stories about her, saying such acts unnecessarily alarm her supporters.
“I have been quiet, allowing some of you to keep saying the rubbish you all have been saying, still you people would not rest. You would be making my fans worried and they start calling to check on me over something that is false. You all just want to use my name to make money,” she added.
She warned that those wishing her ill will face the consequences of their actions.
“You would think you are using my name to make money to better your lives but instead you are heaping curses on your head because I am a special being. Anyone that wishes me bad, it will go back to the sender,” she said.
Iyabo Ojo has been vocal throughout the Mohbad case, a factor many believe has drawn targeted online attacks her way.
