The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed that at least two people were killed and another injured after suspected bandits launched attacks in Eruku, a border town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.

Okay News reports that a parish of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) was among the locations targeted during the violent incident on Tuesday evening.

In a statement issued by SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer, the command said the attack occurred at about 6:00 p.m. on November 18, 2025.

She disclosed that officers responded immediately after gunshots rang out from the outskirts of the community.

“The Kwara State Police Command confirms an attempted bandit attack in Eruku, which occurred at about 18:00 hours of today, 18th November, 2025,” the statement said.

Ejire-Adeyemi added that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Eruku, working with local vigilantes, moved swiftly toward the direction of the gunfire, forcing the attackers to retreat into the surrounding bush.

Police also confirmed that two male victims were found dead following the assault.

“Police confirmed that a male victim, Mr. Aderemi, was fatally shot inside the church, while another, Mr. Tunde Asaba Ajayi, was found dead in the bush,” the command stated.

One other person was reported injured, although authorities have yet to release additional details.

The Eruku attack comes amid rising concerns over the frequency of bandit assaults on communities, schools, and places of worship across northern Nigeria.
