Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) aims to help Nigeria meet the federal government’s 2026 oil production quota. The company credits sustained pipeline security in host communities for progress.
Okay News reports that PINL organised a free medical outreach and palliatives distribution for residents. The programme benefited over 800 people from 60 communities across Southern Ijaw, Ogbia, and Yenagoa local government areas in Bayelsa State, southern Nigeria.
The communities border the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP). They recorded zero infractions in the past year.
General Manager for Community Relations and Stakeholders Engagement Akpos Mezeh presented the palliatives. He described the gesture as appreciation for community cooperation against vandalism and theft.
“We are glad to do this because Bayelsa has demonstrated excellence. They have demonstrated capacity in the sense that one year down the line, there has been no pipeline infraction in the whole state,” Mezeh stated.
“There is no better way to do that than to come here to say thank you to our chief partners who have been committed and dedicated in the fight against pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft,” he added.
The outreach addressed health needs and flood impacts common in the region. Items distributed mitigated hardship from seasonal flooding.
Mezeh urged youth to sustain vigilance. Continued security enables stable operations and national output targets.
“That’s why we have come here to distribute these items to you and I want to thank you and urge you to continue to maintain the momentum in the fight against pipeline vandalism,” he said.
