Nigeria’s national weather authority, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, a federal government agency responsible for weather forecasting and climate monitoring in Africa’s most populous country, has projected predominantly sunny and hazy weather conditions across Nigeria from Sunday, December 21, 2025, to Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

In a detailed weather outlook released on Saturday, December 20, 2025, in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city located in the Federal Capital Territory, the agency indicated that the northern region of the country would experience uninterrupted sunshine throughout the three-day period.

The forecast further revealed that atmospheric haze would be noticeable across the North-Central region of Nigeria, an area that includes states such as Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau, due to suspended dust particles in the atmosphere.

According to the outlook, parts of southern Nigeria are expected to witness localized weather disturbances. On Sunday morning, isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall are forecast over Rivers State, Bayelsa State, and Delta State, all located in the oil-producing Niger Delta region of southern Nigeria.

Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected to extend across Rivers State, Delta State, Cross River State, Akwa Ibom State, and Bayelsa State, bringing intermittent rainfall to affected communities.

Okay News reports that the weather agency expects a similar pattern to continue into Monday, December 22, 2025, with sustained sunshine in northern Nigeria and hazy atmospheric conditions persisting in the North-Central region. Meanwhile, southern states are projected to experience cloudy skies in the morning hours, followed by isolated thunderstorms later in the day.

By Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency anticipates that sunny and hazy conditions will remain dominant in the northern and North-Central parts of the country, while southern Nigeria will experience cloudy mornings and isolated thunderstorms with moderate rainfall later in the day.

The agency advised residents, particularly individuals living with respiratory conditions, to take necessary health precautions due to the presence of dust particles in the air. Motorists were also urged to exercise caution during rainfall, especially in areas prone to reduced visibility and slippery roads.

In addition, airline operators were advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports directly from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency to ensure effective flight planning and operational safety. Residents were encouraged to stay informed by following official weather updates issued by the agency.
