The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, who leads Nigeria’s most economically significant state, has approved the nomination of Mrs Temitope George as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, the agency responsible for overseeing electricity regulation within Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.

The development was officially disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Head of Service of Lagos State, Bode Agoro, who serves as the top civil servant coordinating the state’s public administration structure.

According to the statement, the appointment remains subject to legislative oversight and confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly, the elected lawmaking body responsible for approving key executive appointments in the state.

“It is hereby notified for general information that Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has approved the nomination of Mrs Temitope George for appointment as the Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, subject to confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly,” the memo stated.

The statement further clarified that Mrs George will officially assume office only after her confirmation by the lawmakers, in line with statutory governance procedures guiding public sector appointments in Lagos State.

Okay News reports that Mrs Temitope George brings more than two decades of professional experience spanning legal practice, regulatory governance, and public sector advisory services, particularly within the energy, infrastructure, construction, and Public-Private Partnership sectors.

Before her nomination, she served as the Lead Partner for Energy, Infrastructure, and Policy Counsel at Adegbola-George & Co, a law firm with involvement in complex commercial and public sector transactions across Nigeria.

Over the years, she has played leading roles in structuring large-scale infrastructure projects, obtaining regulatory approvals, negotiating high-value commercial contracts, and ensuring institutional compliance with both national and international governance frameworks.

Her appointment is widely viewed as a strategic move aimed at strengthening leadership capacity at the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, especially as Lagos State continues to implement reforms designed to improve electricity supply reliability, regulatory efficiency, and private sector participation in the power sector.
