JMG Limited, a Nigerian provider of hybrid and integrated electromechanical energy solutions, has installed solar power systems at three NIPCO Plc fuel stations. The projects deliver clean energy and eliminate diesel dependency.
Okay News reports that the sites, located in Gwagwalada and Mpape in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital, and Lekki in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, feature advanced hybrid setups. Components include high-efficiency solar panels, lithium battery storage, and smart inverters.
The systems provide 24/7 power for fuel pumps, lighting, LPG operations, and administrative needs. Stations report zero reliance on grid electricity or generators since commissioning in May–June 2025.
Head of JMG’s Hybrid Solar Division Abbass Hussein highlighted the achievement. He noted seamless operation without performance compromise.
“We are proud to help NIPCO lead the energy transition at the retail level. The three NIPCO stations now run on an advanced hybrid solar system that combines high-efficiency PV panels, intelligent lithium-battery storage and smart inverters,” Hussein stated.
“Since commissioning, the sites have operated with zero grid or generator power, providing silent, clean, uninterrupted electricity for pumps, lighting and administration,” he added.
The installations generate 88,535 kWh annually across the three stations. They save N44.4 million in energy costs yearly and reduce CO₂ emissions by 43.8 tonnes.
Coverage meets 80–100 percent of daily demand. Batteries store excess production, with inverters ensuring smooth transitions.
Generator use is minimal, limited to extended cloudy periods. Scalable design suits varying site needs.
NIPCO Station Manager at Gwagwalada Idoko Jacob confirmed reliability. Bright days require no supplementary power.
“The stations have not relied on electricity or generator power on bright-weather days since commissioning. The solar systems fully meet our daily energy needs during such periods,” Jacob said.
This initiative demonstrates viable clean energy for high-consumption sectors. It offers cost savings, resilience, and environmental benefits.
The projects support Nigeria’s energy transition goals. They reduce fossil fuel reliance in retail fuel operations.
JMG and NIPCO’s collaboration provides a model for other firms. It balances operational demands with sustainability.
