Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has paid tribute to former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, describing his work at the London club as “terrific” following his departure on January 1.
Okay News reports that Arteta spoke in reaction to Chelsea’s decision to part ways with Maresca midway through the season, a move that has continued to spark debate among football observers.
“I wish him all the season,” Arteta said.
“I really like Enzo as a person and professional.
“He did a terrific job at Chelsea, that’s the decision that has been made. I wish him all the best.”
Maresca’s exit comes despite notable successes in his debut campaign, where he guided Chelsea to both the Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup titles.
However, the club has struggled for consistency this season, finding themselves 15 points behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table.
