Humanitarian and Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie visited Egypt’s Arish city and the Rafah border crossing on Friday, January 2, 2026, to review international aid efforts directed toward the Gaza Strip.
During her visit, the former UN Special Envoy for Refugees met with volunteers from the Egyptian Red Crescent, who briefed her on the logistical challenges facing the thousands of aid trucks currently waiting to deliver essential supplies to the 2.2 million residents of Gaza. Jolie expressed that she was honored to meet the volunteers and was accompanied by a US delegation to witness the scale of the relief operations firsthand.
While inspecting the logistics warehouses and aid distribution centers, Jolie announced a significant new initiative to establish a relief village specifically for orphaned children in Gaza.
This proposed safe haven is intended to provide comprehensive care for children who have lost their families in the ongoing conflict, offering long-term shelter, medical services, educational facilities, and essential psychological support. She stressed that Gaza’s children deserve the same opportunities for life and hope as children anywhere else in the world.
Okay News understands that the 50-year-old actress’s tour of the governorate allowed her to review Egypt’s extensive efforts in receiving and distributing humanitarian assistance.
