Swiss authorities have officially identified 16 additional victims of the New Year’s Eve fire at Le Constellation bar in the Alpine resort of Crans-Montana.
The group consists primarily of young people, including nine minors, with the youngest victim confirmed to be a 14-year-old Swiss girl.
Okay News reports that the total number of identified fatalities has now reached 24 out of the 40 people confirmed dead in the tragedy. Among those named is 16-year-old Arthur Brodard, whose family has shared a public tribute following the confirmation of his passing.
The identification process remains slow due to the severity of the incident, with officials working to provide answers to families still waiting for news of missing loved ones.
Legal proceedings are currently underway against the bar’s management, who are under investigation for involuntary manslaughter and safety negligence.
Preliminary findings suggest that the blaze was sparked when celebratory bottle sparklers ignited flammable acoustic foam on the venue’s ceiling. In response to the disaster, Switzerland has designated January 9, 2026, as a national day of mourning.
