The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has announced daily three-hour power outages affecting 22 communities in Ibadan, Oyo State, from Monday, January 5, to Friday, January 9, 2026.
Okay News reports that the disruptions stem from ongoing road construction along Foodco Road and Idi Isin, requiring relocation of IBEDC facilities and assets.
Affected areas include Alalubosa GRA, Ogunkola, Museum, Akinola Maja, FRIN, Forestry College, Lead City, Lead British, House 18, Eleventh House, Commissionaire, Nursing Home, Sunrise, and Post Housing.
Also impacted are AMI Complex, ODUA, Police Headquarters, Apampa, The Heavens, Blossom Heritage, Polo Clubs, and Baale Akintayo.
IBEDC stated that certain feeders will be switched off for approximately three hours each day during the period to facilitate safe relocation works.
The company apologised for the inconvenience, assuring customers that normal supply would resume after completion.
Such outages highlight recurring challenges in coordinating infrastructure projects with essential services in urban centres like Ibadan, Nigeria’s third-largest city.
Residents are advised to plan accordingly during the affected hours.
