FC Barcelona thrashed Athletic Club 5-0 in Jeddah on Wednesday night to secure their place in the Spanish Super Cup final.
Despite starting without stars Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, the Blaugrana maintained their relentless form, extending their winning streak to nine matches across all competitions.
Okay News reports that the match was effectively decided in a dominant first half. Ferran Torres opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, followed by a great strike from Fermín López. Youngster Roony Bardghji, starting in place of Yamal, added a third with a brilliant individual effort, before Raphinha made it 4-0 just before the break. Raphinha completed the rout in the second half, pouncing on a rebound to net his second of the night and Barcelona’s fifth.
The victory was bolstered by a standout performance from goalkeeper Joan García, who made several key saves to deny Athletic Club a consolation goal. While Athletic struggled with injuries and found themselves pinned back for much of the game, Barcelona’s tactical fluidity under Hansi Flick was on full display.
The Blaugrana now await the winner of the second semifinal between Athletico Madrid and Real Madrid tomorrow, to compete for the first domestic trophy of the 2025–26 season this Sunday.
