President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep grief and solidarity with renowned author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her husband, Dr. Ivara Esege, following the passing of their son, Nkanu Nnamdi.

In an emotional statement released on Thursday, the President empathized with the family, noting that “no grief is as devastating as losing a child.”

Okay News had reported that the literary icon’s son, who was one of a set of twins, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, following a brief illness. While the family has not yet issued an official public statement, news of the tragedy has drawn widespread sympathy from the global literary community and admirers worldwide.

In his message, President Tinubu described Adichie as a “literary icon who has brought joy and light to many homes globally.”
