Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State in south western Nigeria, held a private meeting on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, with General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, a former military leader who governed Nigeria from 1985 to 1993.
The closed door discussions took place at Babangida’s residence in Minna, the capital of Niger State in north central Nigeria.
Atiku, who served as Nigeria’s Vice President from 1999 to 2007, arrived in Minna at about 1:30 pm West African Time (WAT, GMT+1) and went straight to Babangida’s home.
Makinde arrived later at about 2:10 pm WAT (GMT+1), after which the private talks began.
Okay News reports that details of what was discussed were not immediately available as of the time of publication. It was also not clear how long the meeting would last.
The visit brings together two active politicians and a prominent former leader who is still regarded in Nigeria as an influential elder statesman, especially during periods of political consultations.
