A father’s tough love backfired when his daughter killed herself in shame.

13-year-old Izabel Laxamana of Tacoma, Washington, died after jumping off a highway bridge.

A few days before her death, Laxamana’s father Jeff, punished her by cutting her beautiful long black hair.He then posted a 15 second video to YouTube, showing Izabel with short hair and a lock of long hair on the floor nearby.

Izabel jumped into heavy traffic shortly after the video emerged. She later died in a hospital.

In the video, her father is heard saying: “The consequences of getting messed up, man, you lost all that beautiful hair. Was it worth it?”

“No,” she replied quietly.

“How many times did I warn you?” He asked.

“A lot,” she responded.

It is not known what she was being punished for.

The King County Medical Examiner’s office ruled her death a suicide.

The original video has been removed from YouTube, but one of Izabel’s friends, who had the video downloaded on her phone, uploaded the video to YouTube again.

The new video is titled: “The bad side of social media shaming: Izzy’s Story.”

The friend who uploaded the video wrote: “The purpose of this upload is to hopefully discourage other parents from engaging in shame videos.”

May she rest in peace.
