We will ensure Buhari adheres to party supremacy in subsequent appointments – APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has vowed to henceforth participate more actively in subsequent appointments to be made by President Muhammadu Buhari and ensure that the principle of party supremacy prevails.

The national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun who made this known yesterday in an interview with ThisDay stressed that although the party was “marginally involved” in the president’s recent appointments, it was his prerogative to appoint his personal staff.

Reacting to the widespread ill will generated by the appointments, Oyegun said, “It is too early and superficial to say the appointments were lopsided; it is too early. We are just a little over two months into the government. The appointments made so far are personal staff members of the president. And it is his prerogative to make those appointments.”

He then stressed that: “Even though we were marginally involved in those appointments, the party will henceforth be fully involved in the subsequent appointments; that is where the supremacy of the party will come to bear. Nigerians should exercise a little patience. There will be board appointments, ministerial positions and a lot of others positions.”
