The Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, says it has expelled 29 students for presenting fake certificates.

Titilayo Obadimu, the Deputy Registrar (Academics), said on Friday in a statement that of the number, some were expelled for examination misconduct during the 2014/2015 first semester.

Obadimu said the academic board had approved the expulsion of the students.

“Sixteen full-time Higher National Diploma students and three B.Sc. full-time students presented fake or altered National Diploma (ND) results.

“Five ND students, three HND students and two B.Sc. students were expelled for examination malpractice.

“The students presented fake or altered National Diploma results to register for HND programmes in violation of the institution’s rules and regulations.

“Affected students are advised to hand over all college property including student identity cards in their possession to the various heads of departments, the Libarian and the Dean of Students’ Affairs with immediate effect.”
