The Kaduna State Government on Tuesday resumed the demolition of illegal structures in the state.

The Governor Nasir El-Rufai led All Progressives Congress government had in August 2015 embarked on the recovering of government lands located within public schools and hospitals in the state.

The exercise took a break after a court order restraining the governor from continuing with the exercise.

However, on Tuesday, the government resumed the demolition exercise, destroying some houses around the New Millennium city layout area of the state.

The exercise mainly affected those who have encroached on government property in the area, a source told our correspondent.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had in January flagged off the construction of 2,000 Housing units at the Millenium City.

The Kaduna State Urban and Property Development Agency team who stormed the Dan Bushiya area of the New Millennium city to demolish the houses were accompanied by seven truck loads of operatives of the state security outfit, ‘operation Yaki’.

The security operatives were armed to the teeth.
