The Johannesburg High Court, on Monday, 4th of April, 2016, sentenced 46-year-old Peter Dashboy Khoza to 538 years behind bars for kidnapping, assaulting and raping children.

Judge Eben Jordaan who presided over his case gave Khoza 28 life sentences for each of the over 20 rapes he has committed over a 4-year period. The Judge found him guilty of 139 charges and ordered that his name be included in the National Register for Sex Offenders, stating, “The accused is a serial rapist. Even if he is released in his sixties, he will be a danger to society.”

He then sentenced him to 12 years in prison for each of the two counts of attempted rape; 10 years for each of the 17 counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm; five years for each of the 45 counts of kidnapping; five years for each of the 18 counts of sexual assault, one year for each of the 9 counts of common assault; one year for each of the 16 counts of compelling a child to witness a sexual assault; and one year for each of the four counts of theft.

The rapist was said to have raped over 20 children, including children as young as 9 years, over a period of 4 years. He committed the dastardly acts, which the Judge described as “horrible and unacceptable”, by luring the children into the bush and tying them up before raping them. Other times he kidnapped more than one child, and would rape one while he told the other to watch.
