Chris Giwa has been released from police custody, two hours after police arrested him at the NFF headquarters in Abuja on Friday evening.

The owner of Giwa FC, arrived at the Glass House around 4pm, in spite of the heavy security around the premises.

His mission was to take over as president of the federation, after a Jos Court ordered the sack of Amaju Pinnick.

He spent about 30 minutes in the building, where he attempted to resume in an administrative capacity.

However, he was led away to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Wuse Zone 3 by police officers.

After his release, Giwa claimed the police detained him after a report from the secretariat reached them.

He insisted that he had recovered his mandate and would resume as NFF president on Monday.
