You must have come across this one way or the other.A hickey, kiss mark, love bite, or bug bite is a bruise or bruise-like mark caused by the kissing or suckling of the skin, usually on the neck or arm. While biting might be part of giving a hickey, suckling is sufficient to burst small superficial blood vessels under the skin.

#1 HICKEY LOVES TO HANG AROUND

Unfortunately, hickeys like to hang around for a while. One to two weeks is the average stay of one of these marks so plan your skin showing accordingly.

#2 Hickeys Are Just Bruises

Pressure on your skin causes blood vessels to break, causing a bruise (often in the shape of lips.)

#3 Preventing Swelling

While you won’t be able to make the color fade any faster, you can apply some ice to the hickey to help limit the amount of swelling that occurs.

#4 Hickeys Can Help You Determine If You Have Enough Iron In Your Body System

If you notice that you get hickeys really easily, you might have an iron deficiency. If this is the case, you should see a doctor and figure out what it will take to get your levels back to normal.

#6 Time Is The Only Way To Fix It

Unfortunately there is no single cure that will get rid of your hickey. The only way for it to completely disappear is with time and patience.
