Abducted Ondo Monarch Rescued By Security Operatives

The traditional ruler of Ode-Iyasan ‎community, in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Abiodun Oyewunmi, has regained freedom from his abductors.

The Public Relations Officer of Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, confirmed that the monarch regained his freedom at Gbelegun village, a riverine community in Edo State on Sunday morning.

He said that the traditional ruler was rescued through the combined efforts of the marine police, Police anti-kidnapping squad and some military officers.

The monarch was abducted from his palace by 10 armed men who invaded his palace at about 10:00pm on Tuesday.

The kidnappers were said to have arrived in the town through the Owena River fully armed and went straight to the traditional ruler’s palace and made away with him without any resistance from the palace guards.
