Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi has been named the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year, securing his first continental crown after an outstanding season for both club and country.
The Paris Saint-Germain right-back—widely regarded as one of the world’s best in his position—was voted winner by a panel of CAF experts and leading African football journalists.
Hakimi emerged the favourite after a historic campaign with PSG, where he helped the French giants clinch four major titles: the Ligue 1, UEFA Champions League, Coupe de France, and the Trophée des Champions. His performances also earned him 6th place in the 2025 Ballon d’Or race.
Across all competitions, the 27-year-old logged more than 3,400 minutes, delivering 6 goals and 4 assists in Ligue 1 and 5 goals with 4 assists in the Champions League, while contributing to 10 clean sheets. He was named in the Champions League Team of the Season, Ligue 1 Team of the Season, and the CAF Team of the Year.
Hakimi edged out Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, solidifying his status as one of the most influential African footballers of his generation.
The award marks a career milestone for Hakimi, whose consistency and versatility continue to earn him global acclaim.
