ADC Will Not Merge With Other Parties, Says Abdullahi

ILORIN, Nigeria — The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, announced on Thursday, June 4, 2026, that the opposition party will not merge with any other political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Okay News reports that Abdullahi made the remarks during an evening gathering in Ilorin, where he hosted party members and leaders to mark the concluded Eid al-Adha celebrations. He stated that the party doors remain open for interested political groups to join them.

Abdullahi urged citizens to support the party to displace the ruling All Progressives Congress-led federal government in the 2027 elections. He stated that the ruling party has brought economic hardship, poverty, and a lack of good governance to the country.

“It is disheartening that we are experiencing a high rate of insecurity in the country as we cannot live peacefully again,” Abdullahi said. He added that reported cases of kidnapping have affected various states and generated serious concern among the populace.

The spokesperson stated that candidates running under the platform have been mandated to comply with the party manifestos to provide qualitative leadership. He noted that the leadership will support all candidates to boost their victory during the voting period.

“We have qualified and experienced candidates. We don’t have candidates who have been to EFCC before,” Abdullahi said. He stated that the party intends to form the government in Kwara and across the country in 2027.
