Cameroon has secured a place in the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations following a 2-1 victory over Mozambique in their final Group F fixture on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, despite the loss, Mozambique has qualified as one of the best third-placed teams and is set to face Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a highly anticipated knockout match on January 5, 2026, in Fez.
The game, held at the Grand Stade Agadir, determined the final rankings for the group as the tournament transitions into the Round of 16.
Mozambique took an early lead through a goal from Geny Catamo, before a defensive error resulted in an own goal that allowed Cameroon to equalize. Christian Kofane eventually sealed the win for the Indomitable Lions with a powerful strike that hit the crossbar before finding the net. The result placed Cameroon second in the group, trailing Ivory Coast, who secured the top spot following a late victory in their parallel match against Gabon.
With the group stages now concluded, the Round of 16 fixtures have been finalized. Cameroon is scheduled to face South Africa, the leaders of Group B.
