Nigerian midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has declared himself fit and ready for action after overcoming an injury setback suffered during the early stages of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

Yusuf sustained a thigh injury during Nigeria’s opening fixture against Equatorial Guinea’s Nzalang Nacional, which sidelined him for the subsequent group-stage matches against Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau.

However, the Royal Antwerp star made a triumphant return to the bench for Nigeria’s Round of 16 clash with Cameroon, signaling his recovery from the setback.

After Monday’s training session at the Police College, Cocody, Abidjan, Yusuf provided an update on his condition, expressing his readiness to return to action.

“I’m in good shape now, with no discomfort or injury,” Yusuf stated confidently.

“I’m ready to play again, but the coach will decide when he wants me to play. The team is doing well, and that is the most important thing.”

Yusuf’s return to fitness provides a boost to the Super Eagles ahead of their crucial quarter-final encounter against the Black Antelopes of Angola at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, slated for Friday.
