Cote d’Ivoire secured their spot in the semi-finals of the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations by defeating Mali on Saturday night.

Okay.ng reports that despite facing adversity with a red card in the first half, the Elephants fought relentlessly, ultimately clinching victory in extra time.

The wasteful Eagles, who missed a penalty in the first half, succumbed to the resilience of the Cote d’Ivoire team.

Dourgeles scored Mali’s first goal in the 71st minute, but Adingra’s late equalizer in the 90th minute pushed the game into extra time. In a dramatic turn of events, Seko Fofana’s goal in the 120+1 minute secured the host nation’s triumph.

Cote d’Ivoire now looks ahead to the AFCON semi-finals, where they will face DR Congo.

DR Congo earned their spot by defeating Guinea 3-1 on Friday. The semi-final matches are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
