Afenifere Leader Ayo Adebanjo to Be Laid to Rest on May 3

The family of the late Chief Samuel Ayodele Adebanjo has outlined the schedule for his final rites, culminating in his interment on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

Chief Adebanjo, a prominent nationalist and leader of the Yoruba socio-cultural group Afenifere, passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 96.

Day of Tributes and Service of Songs: Set for Wednesday, April 30, 2025, this event will take place at Harbour Point on Victoria Island, Lagos, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Wake: Scheduled for Friday, May 2, 2025, the wake will be held at Chief Adebanjo’s residence in Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm.

Final Burial Service: The service is planned for Saturday, May 3, 2025, at St. Phillips Anglican Church in Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

Thanksgiving Service: A service of gratitude will occur on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at St. Phillips Anglican Church, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.

The family has requested prayers and professional support as they prepare to honor the esteemed elder statesman. They also invite well-wishers and associates to participate in the commemorative events.
