Abuja, Nigeria – The African Democratic Congress released its primary election timetable for the 2027 general elections, scheduling its presidential primary for May 25, 2026, and setting the presidential nomination form fee at N100 million ($71,428).
Okay News reports that party spokesman Bolaji Abullahi issued a statement outlining the guidelines and requirements for candidate nominations.
The organization approved a structured fee regime for all elective positions, pricing governorship forms at N50 million ($35,714), Senate forms at N20 million ($14,285), House of Representatives forms at N10 million ($7,142), and State House of Assembly forms at N3 million ($2,142). The party announced a 50 percent discount for youths and a 25 percent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.
The collection of application forms runs from April 1 to May 4, 2026. The sale of nomination forms will take place from May 5 to May 10, and the submission of completed forms will occur between May 11 and May 13, 2026.
Party officials will conduct aspirant screening from May 14 to May 15, and publish the screening results on May 17. Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be heard between May 18 and May 19, with the final list of cleared aspirants expected on May 20.
Primary elections for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats are scheduled to hold simultaneously at the ward level on May 21, 2026. Governorship primaries will follow on May 22. The timetable includes a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee on May 26, 2026, and a Special National Convention on May 27 to ratify the candidates.
