At least 87 individuals have been abducted by bandits during an attack on the Kajuru station community in Kaduna State, according to reports.

The bandits, who also looted shops and houses in the area, struck on Sunday night, adding to the escalating insecurity in the region following similar incidents in nearby communities.

Although police authorities in Kaduna are yet to confirm the latest attack, Ibrahim Gajere, Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, confirmed the invasion, expressing concern over the recurrent attacks that have instilled fear among residents.

Kajuru and Chikun Local Government Areas have witnessed a surge in attacks, including the recent abduction of 287 students at Kuriga community in Chikun.

Amid the heightened insecurity, Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, visited the state government house to meet with Governor Uba Sani and reassure the community of ongoing efforts to rescue the abducted individuals.

General Musa pledged that the military and security agencies are diligently working towards freeing the hostages and apprehending the perpetrators behind the kidnappings and attacks in Kaduna and other states in the North West zone.

Governor Sani also affirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing security in affected communities, acknowledging the support received from both the army and police.

The incident underscores the pressing need for concerted efforts to address the security challenges plaguing Kaduna State and restore peace to the region.
