Air Force announces shake-up with new appointments, redeployments of senior officers

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the appointment and redeployment of several senior officers as part of a routine exercise aimed at improving operational efficiency and service delivery.

Group Captain Joel Abioye stated that the newly appointed and redeployed officers are expected to take up their new positions on or before January 6th, 2023.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, approved the appointments, which include new Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding (AOCs), Commandants of Tri-Service and Nigerian Air Force institutions, as well as a new spokesperson and other senior officers.

Abioye listed the newly appointed Branch Chiefs as Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Jackson Yusuf, AVM Idi Lubo, AVM Mohammed Yakubu, and AVM Ayoola Jolasinmi, among others.

AVM Anthony Tuwase, the immediate-past Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, has been appointed Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation (CDTI) at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in Abuja.

Several other officers have also been affected by the reshuffle, with AVM Emmanuel Wonah, AVM Charles Ohwo, AVM Paul Jemitola, and AVM Abraham Adole among those taking on new roles.

The newly appointed AOCs include AVM Sayo Olatunde, AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe, and Air Commodore (Air Cdre) Edward Gabkwet, who has been appointed Commander 551 NAF Station in Jos.

Air Cdre Wapkerem Maigida has been appointed as the new NAF spokesperson, while Air Cdre Olayinka Oyesola will take over as the Air Component Commander (Joint Task Force North-East) Operation Hadin Kai.

Air Marshal Amao congratulated the new appointees and encouraged them to bring their professional experience to bear in finding innovative solutions to the country’s security challenges.
