Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, has departed Nigeria to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the 2017 hajj pilgrimage.

The spokesperson of the president’s wife, Zaynab Ikaz- Kassim, confirmed that Mrs Buhari left Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, to the holy city on Monday.

”This Afternoon H.E Mrs. @aishambuhari left Abuja for Mecca, Saudi Arabia to join millions of Muslims in performing this year’s Hajj,” Zaynab tweeted.

According to statistics released by the Directorate General of Passports, over 1.705 million pilgrims, which include over 91,000 Nigerians, have arrived the Kingdom to perform the Hajj.
