Regina Akume, a member of the House of Representatives, has publicly advised her husband, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume, to return fully to Christianity, warning that abandoning the faith could affect his success.

She made the remarks during the wedding reception of their son in Makurdi, Benue State, while offering prayers for Akume’s long life, good health, and sound judgment.

Okay News reports that Regina Akume stressed that Christianity played a central role in her husband’s political journey, urging him to remain steadfast in the faith that, according to her, brought him this far.

She cautioned that turning to “anything else” would not yield success, adding that their family’s rise was achieved through faith in Christ, not opposition or enemies.

Her comments come days after reports emerged that George Akume had married Zaynab Ngohemba, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife. The marriage announcement, shared by a family member on social media, has since generated widespread public attention and debate across political and religious circles.
