Amuneke Applies for Vacant Super Eagles Coaching Job

By Yusuf Abubakar

Former Nigerian winger, Emmanuel Amuneke, has officially entered the race to become the next head coach of the Super Eagles.

This development comes after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) declared the position vacant on Friday, following the expiration of Jose Peseiro’s contract.

Amuneke, a 53-year-old former Barcelona star, confirmed his application for the top managerial role in Nigerian football during an interaction with journalist Osazu Obayiwana.

“Yes, I did [apply to be the next manager],” Amuneke affirmed, signaling his keen interest in taking charge of the Super Eagles.

Having previously managed the Nigeria U-17 side and the national team of Tanzania, Amuneke brings a wealth of experience to the table. His application places him among the leading candidates to succeed Peseiro and guide the Super Eagles through their upcoming campaigns.

The NFF, in its announcement, not only declared the coaching position open but also outlined the requirements for interested applicants.
