‘An Assembly of Confused and Desperate Politicians’ – APC Blasts ADC

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

ABUJA, Nigeria – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly dismissed allegations of meddling in the internal affairs of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that the opposition party’s recent derecognition by the electoral commission is entirely self-inflicted.

In a press statement made available to Okay News on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party described the ADC as an assembly of “confused and desperate politicians” who have distinguished themselves as peddlers of “rabid conspiracy theories.” Mocking the party’s structure and current crisis, Morka stated, “By design, it was a kamikaze contraption with a ‘follow-come’ self-destructive detonator. It had to unravel and now unraveling fast by installment.”

Addressing the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to derecognize the ADC leadership, the APC defended the electoral body’s actions as lawful and justified. Morka accused the factional leadership of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola of hijacking the party, stating they “parachuted into the party like thoughtless and planless commandos” in violent violation of the rule of law. He added that INEC’s compliance with the court judgment is “the consequence of the Party’s reckless and desperate misadventure.”

The APC further criticized the ADC’s attempts to blame the ruling party for its woes, describing it as “highly escapist and irresponsible.” Concluding that the opposition is bereft of ideas, Morka declared, “A party that cannot fix itself cannot possibly fix Nigeria,” while reaffirming the APC’s commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
