Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has taken a decisive step in addressing insecurity by inaugurating a new State Security Supervisory Committee. The announcement was made by his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, in a press statement on Wednesday.

Opara described the move as a testament to the governor’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of residents. The committee comprises representatives from government agencies, traditional rulers, and local government leaders. Among its key responsibilities is the registration and monitoring of the Agunechemba security units, as well as fostering collaboration between security agencies and communities.

“This collective approach to tackling insecurity is a welcome development, as it recognizes that crime and social unrest require multifaceted solutions,” Opara stated. He added that Governor Soludo’s emphasis on innovative security strategies has brought relief to Anambra residents, who have long grappled with safety concerns.

The committee’s inauguration follows the recent unveiling of the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025 and the launch of ‘Operation Udo Ga-Achi’, a special security initiative designed to strengthen the state’s security framework. According to Opara, these efforts are already yielding positive results, with noticeable improvements in safety over the past few months.

“Governor Soludo is taking the right steps to address security challenges head-on and restore lasting peace to Anambra,” Opara remarked. He expressed optimism that, with these measures in place, Anambra is on track to becoming the safest state in Nigeria, free from the scourge of insecurity.

As the state embarks on this renewed security drive, residents and stakeholders remain hopeful for a more secure and prosperous Anambra.
