The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has suspended three female traffic officers after they were caught on camera engaging in a physical fight with a police traffic personnel over a bribe at Aroma Junction in Awka, the state capital.

The incident, which occurred recently, was captured on video and circulated on social media, showing the four officers exchanging punches while still in their uniforms. The fight caused a gridlock and attracted a large crowd.

According to ARTMA’s Managing Director, Emeka Okonkwo, the agency has conducted a thorough investigation and placed the three officers involved on immediate suspension pending further disciplinary measures. Okonkwo expressed regret over the incident, stating that it does not reflect the agency’s standards and values.

The agency has been recognized for its dedication to maintaining order and ensuring effective road and traffic management in Anambra State. However, this incident has sparked widespread condemnation on social media and raised concerns about the conduct of traffic officials in the state.
