World number one tennis player, Andy Murray, has continued the defence of his Wimbledon title after beating Benoit Paire to advance to his 10th straight quarter-final.

With this success, the British first seed has reached the quarterfinals at 23 of the last 25 Grand Slam events he has contested.

The Scot has now equalled Roger Federer’s feat of 10 consecutive Wimbledon quarter-final appearances in the Open era, with only Jimmy Connors’ record of 11 to be beaten.

Although Roger Federer will be on Court today as well to extend his record when he faces Bulgarian big server, Dimitrov, Grigor.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Murray said the game was his best so far in the competition.

“I thought I played well today apart from a couple of sloppy service games in the first set. That’s by far the best I have hit it this week. He’s not an easy guy to play, tactics aren’t easy against him.

“Two weeks ago I was resting and a bit concerned, it was frustrating. But I have managed it well and have played some good stuff. I’m doing well and hopefully will keep it up,” he said.
