ABUJA, Nigeria – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly rejected allegations made by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar claiming that the 2026 budgetary Service-Wide Vote was earmarked to fund President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka described the claims as baseless conjectures intended to mislead the public. Okay News reports that the ruling party defended the Service-Wide Vote as a standard, transparent public finance mechanism utilized globally to address unforeseen government-wide expenditures and contingency obligations.
Morka criticized the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that the allegations demonstrated a fundamental misunderstanding of public financial management. The APC counter-highlighted key fiscal initiatives under the current administration, including the implementation of the new national minimum wage, expanding funding through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), and ongoing investments in national infrastructure and consumer credit schemes.
The ruling party reaffirmed its commitment to advancing its Renewed Hope Agenda, maintaining that executive resources remain directed toward economic recovery, institutional reforms, and public infrastructure development rather than political campaigns.
