Abuja, NIGERIA – The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized opposition political parties for failing to meet the statutory deadline to upload their candidate lists for the 2027 general elections, describing the delay as proof of structural incompetence.
The aggressive political assessment followed the electoral umpire’s decision to shift the nomination window. Okay News reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) granted an emergency extension until Tuesday, July 14, after the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) appealed for more time on behalf of struggling platforms.
In an official press statement released on Sunday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka confirmed that the ruling party successfully uploaded the comprehensive biometric credentials of its presidential, vice-presidential, and National Assembly nominees well before the original July 11 cutoff. Morka argued that the opposition’s failure to manage internal data verification platforms—despite having significantly fewer primary winners to process than the ruling party—raises serious warning signs regarding their ultimate readiness to govern the federation or its subnational structures.
The ruling party spokesperson further condemned the opposition’s political rhetoric, pointing out the irony of parties that frequently accuse INEC of being manipulated by the presidency turning to the same commission for administrative relief. Reaffirming the party’s momentum under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC statement urged its grassroots organizers to dismiss external distractions and sustain intensive mobilization drives ahead of the upcoming 2027 campaigns.
